Jonathan Edwards Collage

Jonathan Edwards is a very effective preacher through his implementation of grotesque images for the audience. These pictures that I have chosen to be displayed as symbols for Jonathan Edward's Sermon, highlight the gruesome aspects of hell, and the hand of God. The purpose of Edward's sermon is to project onto the parishioners the image of God deciding whether or not to save you from eternal damnation. He does this effectively through pictures repulsing insects, the immaculate hand of God, and the inferno of the underworld. I have included the mentioned figures in my collage, which builds onto the very terrifying future Edwards predicts for us sinners. Even though he is emotionless while he narrates his sermons, they still install a deep angst into our hearts.
